Hilary Oxley

Hilary Oxley designed the A & A Trust’s distinctive lavender flag. More recently, she designed the A & A logos appearing on t-shirts worn by the Trustees at Rainbow events such as Wellington’s Out in the Park.

Well known to many in the Wellington and Manawatu lesbian communities for her enthusiasm, sociability and humour, Hilary is a lesbian feminist community political activist whose commitment spans many years. The A & A Trust recognised her contribution within the Wellington Region in the Bea Arthur Birthday Award made in 2010.

Hilary is also a talented and original artist, usually working with three dimensional assembled materials. Her memorable sculpture, There is a War, appeared in the Lesbian Art Exhibition, held at the Thistle Gallery during the Asia-Pacific Outgames in 2011. Most recently, she exhibited pieces at the Tangimoana Art and Craft Festival.

Although a capable graphic designer, Hilary specialises in spatial design. She is interested in interactive public space design and domestic storage design, particularly vestibule furniture – “something pleasing on arriving home on a dismal evening in late August”. She graduated with a Bachelor of Design, specialising in Interiors, in 2010.
